SUMMARY

Bering Straits Native Corporation (BSNC) is currently seeking a detail-oriented General Ledger (GL) Accountant to perform accounting tasks in collaboration with internal departments in Anchorage, AK.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The Essential Duties and Responsibilities are intended to present a descriptive list of the range of duties performed for this position and are not intended to reflect all duties performed within the job. Other duties may be assigned.

Prepares monthly cash management and bank reconciliations reports

• Manage fixed asset database and equipment general ledger entries
• Assist with company AP processes and ensuring accuracy and timeliness of payments
• Initiate and maintain equipment titling and registration process
• Receive and record monthly company card transactions
• Collaborating with internal departments to gather, analyze, and interpret relevant financial information.
• Assist with audits on financial data to assure its accuracy and truthfulness.
• Ensuring that financial information complies with professional and regulatory standards.
• Aligning general ledger accounting practices to support budgeting and forecasting.
• Entering financial data such as accruals, deferrals, reclassifications, and interdepartmental entries into the ledger monthly basis, as well as preparing reports.
• Performing account analysis to ensure that journal entries and balances are correct.
• Reconciling accounts with the general ledger.
• Gathering supporting documentation and performing recordkeeping.
• Helping others when needed around the office

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS - EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION

Required (Minimum Necessary) Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or similar field of study
• 3 years of experience in Accounting
• Strong computer skills including accounting systems and Excel.

Preferred

• Deltek Costpoint accounting system experience in a multi–company environment.
• Experience in government accounting.
• Working experience with an ANC is a plus.

• This position is not subject to federal requirements regarding Department of Transportation “safety-sensitive” functions.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work Environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be borne by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

The job is performed in an office setting with exposure to computer screens and requires extensive use of a computer, keyboard, mouse, and multi-line telephone system. The work described herein is primarily in a modern office setting. Occasional travel may be required.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

• No supervisory responsibilities.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFYING FACTORS

As a condition of employment, you will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening and have acceptable background check results. If applicable to the contract, you must also obtain the appropriate clearance levels required and be able to obtain access to military installations.
